This summer we, Dima and Maria, traveled through Central Asia and Eastern Europe together for about a month. The purpose of the trip was to learn more about the people and the country and to see whether this was the proper place for us to start our gospel ministry. The result of our trip was a mutual decision to move to Central Asia to develop a national church planting movement, like we were planning. While traveling with our team, we gave lectures on church history and theology in Russian. We visited missionaries and observed existing projects in the region. We interacted with national Muslim-background believers to learn about their culture and spiritual needs. We taught at a training school for native missionaries, and Dima had some opportunities to preach. We also visited the church we are planning to partner with when we deploy.
Where It Brings Us Now
The survey trip gave us confidence in the direction we previously chose by faith alone. It also gave us a lot more information regarding the possibilities and challenges in our ministry in the future. We are in much better position today, because of the survey trip, to pray and to plan and to prepare for our deployment. The areas we are going to target have less than 1% of practicing Christians, and roughly half of the population is Muslim.
We need your help
Please consider becoming our partners in ministry by supporting us through prayer and financially. In the past year, many believers joined hands to help us raise 40% of our monthly financial support, and over 100 are praying for us. If 50 more families or churches join our team in the following year, we will be able to deploy immediately after finishing the last part of our training. If you would like to help us, please visit our website or use the included form and the addressed envelope.
